Wanstead have the advantage

This postponed match leaves Wanstead with the advantage. Woodbridge had no wins, but Paul has submitted his interesting draw for publication.

Rivals Lewisham Heavily Defeated

Aided by two defaults, this latest win sends us shooting up the table. We now have the same number of points as our next opponents, Wanstead.

Steve Abbott is now well ahead in the race for best performance cup. It is difficult to see him being caught.

Analyzing the statistics, everything is equal so far this season - we have 4 points from 8, and have scored exactly 50% with 39.5 points from 79 games. We are slightly better with the White pieces.

Woodbridge lose to Metropolitan

Metropolitan's first team, trying for promotion and now second in the table, was just too strong.

Difficult Match

We are struggling to hold the match against King's head 2, with only one win so far.

Wanstead Match Cancelled

Bad weather forced Woodbridge to concede the match. Wanstead decided they did not wish to win this way and it has been rearranged for Wednesday 3rd March.

Beckenham & Charlton

A fine win with the bottom boards proving too strong for their opponents.

Games

There is now a new section for games, although there is only one game available at the moment! Would any member wishing to publish a game send it to me or to the Woodbridge email address ( see contact page ).

Good performance against a top team

A loss against Mushrooms 1 disguise a determined performance and some good results. Richard Freeman won (see game); while Bryan Gaze, Steve Abbott, Mustapha Rahaman, and Les Crane all drew against much higher graded opponents.

Woodbridge win first match

This excellent win featured our latest new member, Steve Abbott. He went against recent Woodbridge traditions by not losing his first game! For details, go to "Fixtures & Results" and click on "Hammersmith 1" in the fixtures table. Our next game is on November 4th, so watch out for fireworks.

Drunken Knights

Please note the start time of this year's match v Drunken Knights has now changed from 6:45 to 7:00 pm

British Championships

Woodbridge players distinguished themselves. Graham Smith scored 4 points against tough opposition in the British, Paul Kendall came 5th in the Seniors Championship, while Rod Johnson was 5th in the under 175.
